A multidisciplinary artist, Mehdi Kerkouche has worked on numerous tv shows in France and Europe as a choreographer and director. From cinema to fashion shows to advertising, he coaches artists of all kinds and stages major cultural events. In 2017, he set up the company EMKA with the intention to connect the artists he met on previous projects. His creations include the solo MUTE (which received an award at the Karavel Festival in 2018) and DABKEH, which revisits this powerful and festive dance of the Middle East with a contemporary look. In 2020, his “lockdown videos” went viral and allowed him to launch the festival ON DANSE CHEZ VOUS, which brought together 70 dancers and choreographers on social networks to help healthcare staff during the COVID-19 crisis.
Deeply attached to knowledge sharing, Mehdi teaches in various Paris dance schools. He also supports numerous dance festivals in France and abroad. As a performer he played and sang in numerous musicals, and along artists such as Christine And The Queens. He also played the role of Karim in Ladislas Chollat’s first feature film, LET’S DANCE. At the start of the 2020 school year, he was invited by Aurélie Dupont to create a piece for the dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet, presented in November 2020.
